Quest Recruitment Fun Family Day Out
On Thursday, the 18th of October, some of Team Quest decided to try their luck at the Squirrel Scramble, a Tree Adventure Park based in Kilruddery, Co. Wicklow. While in the office, the team (especially our Marketing Executive Ruth) kept checking the weather to make sure that it would stay fine for the day. With the sun splitting the stones, the bus pulled up, we all hopped in, despite a few members of the team being terrified of heights, and began the journey to Kilruddery. There was plenty of chat flowing on the bus about who would finish the course for the half hour drive out to Wicklow.
When we got to the Scramble, it became apparent that it was not going to be an easy afternoon. There are five levels at the Scramble and you start at Level 1 to ease yourself into it. This level was testing, as we had to try finding our balance and get used to being off the ground. While we weren’t too high up yet, there was a sense of the inevitable as we slowly got higher and higher with each obstacle we passed. There were zip lines and slack lines that had to be carefully negotiated, wooden logs that had to be crossed and see-saws that could really offset your balance. We can definitely say that it worked as a team bonding exercise as encouraging words were being exchanged between everyone taking part with Chris and Brian, our Scramble guides, becoming part of the Team as well.
As we went up the tree course, the zip lines started to get longer and the obstacles harder. One of the obstacles faced was a surfboard, that two of the team lost their balance on, one almost losing a shoe to the undergrowth. The final step, the start of level 5, proved too much for half of the team who graciously took the largest zip line in the place back to solid ground. It was the BIKE… see the picture below which features Garth McKeown, Managing Partner of Quest and an avid cycler in his spare time, make his way across a thin cable on it.
Still on an adrenaline rush on the way back home, the bus ride was never quiet. After getting dropped off at the office, we headed around to McGrattans Pub for a well-deserved pint. What a way to spend a Thursday afternoon!
