Quest at the The Irish Funds Annual Global Conference
Irish Funds, which is the representative body for the investment funds industry in Ireland, held its annual funds conference on Thursday 27 at The Intercontinental Hotel Dublin celebrating 25 years of the Association. The conference was a great success with 350 senior level delegates and household names from all facets’ of the Funds and Finance industry. They were joined by European policy makers and regulators to explore and debate the key issues of the financial services industry.
This year’s conference was opened by the chairman of the association, Mr. Alan O’Sullivan. Over 30 speakers and panellists addressed topics such as key trends in fund distribution, developments in private equity, the growing significance of FinTech in the industry and geo-political events, including the UK’s referendum on membership of the European Union. Also speaking at the conference was the Irish Minister for Finance, Mr Michael Noonan TD. He highlighted the Irish government’s firm commitment to the funds industry.In his key note address the Minister acknowledged the importance of the Funds industry to the Irish economy. He highlighted that we now have some 6,000 funds domiciled here, managing close to €2 trillion of assets. This supports thousands of jobs directly and many more indirectly.” He added, “Our aim is to provide a welcoming business environment, a responsive regulatory environment and to support your industry in meeting your business objectives.”
The conference not only facilitated a forum for the topics of the day but also facilitated an extensive opportunity to network and engage with Industry colleagues. After the closing speeches there was also a Gala Dinner which was enjoyed by all.
The Quest recruitment draw for an IPad was won by Brown Brothers Harriman Investment Managers and the prize was presented by Larry McCowen Managing Partner at Quest Recruitment.
