At Home With Quest: Part 3 November 2017
I have worked in recruitment for 2 years; specialising in funds and financial services recruitment nationwide and have been working with Quest Recruitment for the past year and a half as a Senior Recruitment Consultant.
1. How did a career in recruitment catch your attention?
I wanted a career where I could help people and be challenged every day. Recruitment definitely ticks those boxes for me.
2. What is a typical day like for you at Quest?
My day starts at 8:30am; quick scan of emails then it’s straight into resourcing for the roles we currently have live and sending profiles out to our clients for them. I will typically be resourcing until 4pm and I’ll be on the phone for the majority of my day. It’s really important to speak with the candidate and figure out exactly what they want for their next career move. It’s a busy, jam packed day but I really enjoy it.
3. What is the best part of your working day at Quest?
The office environment and our team are great, there is always someone to celebrate your achievements with you or to pick you up if you need support and that’s so important.
4. Tell us an unusual fact about yourself that not many people know.
I once was blonde! (I know, I know!)
5. What is your advice to candidates who are seeking a new position?
Be honest with your recruiter about what you want or don’t want. There is no point moving to a new job just for a higher salary alone. Look at the duties of the job and the company and ask yourself could you see yourself in this role and would you be happier/more fulfilled in it?
Also, make sure you have all the necessary updated details on your CV about your achievements to date, qualifications, project work, secondments, client services etc. Make sure you are not selling yourself short. Your CV is your sales document – If it’s not on your CV/LinkedIn profile how will a recruiter/hiring manager know you’ve done it?
