In Ireland we have seen the IT market expand at pace over the last year and we continue to be a country of choice for software professionals and the majority of software companies looking to hire top IT talent. Opportunities arise in the IT sector for strong graduates and experienced professionals. Overall, Ireland boasts an exceptional global talent pool across high-demand skill sets. However, the unfortunate reality is that there is an under-supply of IT candidates in many skill areas.
Ireland's ICT sector is world-renowned and continues to flourish. Nine of the world's top 10 ICT companies are located here and the IDA supports over 200 firms. The industry employs over 37,000 people and generates €35 billion in exports annually.
The sector now includes the top 10 ‘born on the internet’ companies, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Amazon.
It also includes the top 3 global enterprise software companies, as well as four out of the top 5 IT services companies, not to mention nine out of the top 10 global software companies and the top 3 global security software companies.
There is a trend of Irish IT professionals who have been working abroad now returning to Ireland, as the Irish ICT sector continues to improve and drive forward.
